I have been asked so many times what I think about Beyonce and Jay Z going to Cuba and I would just like to say that GOOD FOR THEM. The strained relationship between the US and Cuba is now a result of overcharged, overpowered Cubans in Miami who left their country when they were too young and too rich to remember the reality of American Neocolonialism in Cuba. These people have no idea what life in Cuba it’s like anymore, and how their blockade, or embargo as they call it, is hurting and undermining the only hopes Cuba has for freedom and democracy. We are not in the 60’s anymore, this is not the Kennedy Administration, and Communism is not a threat to the US, so all these stupid laws are just brought to you by Miami lobbyists who let their hatred for Castro get in the way of making rational decisions that could actually help them with their anti-Castrist goals.
So Jay-Z, Beyonce, and every other person who wants to go to Cuba, just go. It seems to be the only way Americans can get a grasp of how antiquated and hypocritical the American laws are when it comes to Cuba.
